The Shipibo-Conibo medicine traditions of Peru offer a relational model of psychological distress that can provide valuable insight into intrusive thoughts, harmful influences, and personal healing, while remaining distinct from the assumption that all suffering originates either entirely inside or entirely outside ourselves.
◊🧬🌈🖤 In this archive, I explore these teachings through a combination of traditional medicine perspectives, personal experiences, cultural examples, and reflections from my own training as an Ayahuasqera healer. Along the way, I examine the traditional concept of brujería (black magic or sorcery), stories from the Amazon, the role of awareness and meditation — and how these teachings gradually transformed my understanding of intrusive thoughts and mental health.
