Here's a quote from my Health Blog today. For context, I had been suffering with crippling cervical pain which was increasing over time. I assumed that the pain would have been caused by the positioning of fibroids that had been found in my uterus, but according to a new MRI, that's not the case. And the pain is now completely gone for a whole week, with no explanation the doctor can find :
The MRI picked up 2 fibroids — one was 5.2 cm and the other was only 1.1 cm. I asked about the positioning of the fibroids, to confirm my theory that this must be the explanation for my cervical and bladder issues. The doctor said these fibroids are at the posterior of my uterus so that means this could possibly explain some bladder irritation (though shouldn't be a lot), but wouldn't explain the cervical pain I've been experiencing.
And this ongoing cervical pain that I've been having did stop during my period this month which I'm near the end of now, which I raised to my doctor. Sae said there's no chance that the period would have been the reason for the cervical pain stopping, because this fibroid's positioning does not indicate that it caused the issue. Like menstrual hormones can sometimes cause fibroids to temporarily shrink and then come back to size afterwards, but that's not what was happening here.
However, sae mentioned that actually there was a benign cyst found on my cervix, and this might be the explanation for the cervical pain. The cyst is a bump which is a collection of mucus and skin cells. It poses no risk of cancer. However the reason for the pain stopping is also not explained by my period in relation to this cyst, so it must be a coincidence. The doctor said sae has no idea why my cervical pain is better, and this is nothing that can be commented on. And I think it's another miracle.
The thing is, this experience of miracles right now is reframing my understanding about what I should do about the issue (hysterectomy or less invasive therapies). A hysterectomy would be a truly permanent resolution to this issue which based on my terrible health history lately, looks like it would just keep coming back to haunt me again and again when I least expect it, and of course at the worst times. But now I'm actually expecting miracles, so that shifts my perspective on how scared I should be about the future and makes me feel like the longterm indefinite future isn't about this problem.
Now, of course I have to ask myself "Will the pain come
