The latest banner for UNITY LIFE Mystery School was created even before I found out which website editor I was going to be using for the new site. I fell in love with this one, but immediately found out that the way they stretch banners simply won't allow for my method I've been using for so many years of designing these.
Eventually I found a pink flower picture in the stock photos that come with the website editor which I really appreciated for the way that it has a central element, about the size of the content area, and a far-away blurred background behind that — as well as a nice diagonally flowing, relaxed or casually balancing harmony of attention direction to it. Flowers and pink were certainly always a couple of Kurt Cobain's favourite things, so it works. But I'm starting to make new types of progress in AI art right now and feeling more confident with the challenge of creating my own imagery for these sections.
The previous types of UNITY LIFE banners I would make before took me a very long time to do — around 5 days of total focus — and I've never even felt like I had that kind of time. But thankfully the demands of the website may actually be creating more allowance to easy going work on this which doesn't necessarily take that long and can be slowly improved over time — rather than feeling pressured to create an immediate masterpiece.
Right now I have a new double headed serpent which I feel would make a great main character of UNITY LIFE and goes especially well with The 7 of 9. But that is a slightly jarring image in some ways and wouldn't be the right thing for some of these pages. So perhaps the best method is to start upgrading the banners just page by page, accepting the fact that it will seem dramatically better on some pages than others, creating imbalance. I just don't have the self-control to not use it for a banner on the page if I've created it. Not using a new one, and forcing myself to wait while I create a ton more for other pages, would feel messed up. But sometimes writing things like that makes that feeling go away, so we will have to wait and see what happens.
