REFLECTIONS ON MY FIRST MONTH OF MIDJOURNEY ART

◊ I do find midjourney very relaxing and therapeutic as an activity. I’d so much rather be doing this than watching TV or death scrolling social media, for those more braindead moments where I need to perk up my brain (lol). That’s why I have no question that it’s a great side project for me as an artist. I mean, obviously the brain cells that work on aesthetics are always fully active, no matter how tired I am (lol).

◊ I have a major intuition that I’ll have the big eureka moment (or series of them) about what to use these for as the best use for them. It’s obviously about using them right, ya know?

◊ But if I go pro, I feel like I need an instagram where I can post them for fun, like just post em all. Sometimes I worry I’m oversaturating this acct, and don’t want to oversaturate my main one, but you know — I got to post my pretties just for fun. Especially if I’m paying for it — it should be my fun life. So what will I do? Will I make a midjourney acct? It’s weird, I’m not sure if that’s strategically optimal for me as an artist.

◊ For now I guess I’m going to just use this acct. It’s just easier on this one where I don’t feel it like as an obligatory posting acct, it’s just an acct to post what EVER. I always need an unstructured outlet.

◊ I like to show my friends, but the issue is too I get a bit self-conscious incase other people don’t like AI art. But I shouldn’t worry I guess. I personally never did take issue with midjourney artist accts. I just thought “Thank you for spending all that time on midjourney so that I could enjoy your pictures — that’s nice of you — if you care that much about it, that’s good for me — I’m getting the treats without doing the work” (lol).

◊ The thing I like about doing this myself now is it’s interesting that I was right in my intuition towards midjourney artists in the past. Previous to trying the program, I always intuitively sensed that they were ridiculously relaxed in the process of making these, like laying back and just lazily sinking into a dream world. It’s SO TRUE, it’s just like relaxing into a dream, or taking psychedelics in a relaxed state.

◊ Looking back, I was confused by why midjourney artists do such consistent styles. I didn’t know how or why they kept being so visually and aesthetically consistent, but NOW I GET IT. You could change the style but the thing is, it GRABS YOU SO MUCH when you find a kind you enjoy.

◊ I once went to an event where the artist projected many portraits like this really huge onto the white walls, and it was a huge space, and it made for fantastic event visuals. That’s one thing I often think about AI artists I know “You’d be so hireable for party visuals”. And it’s true — that’s really a thing once I have a ridiculous bank.

◊ I don’t think one would make much money off party visuals, but I do think that doing art exhibits with projectors is a really cool thing to do, and if I ever did art exhibits of my work, this midjourney projection component would serve to make my exhibit overall so much more fun as a component to the decor.
